Business
The following introduces the business areas in which TOYOTA BATTERY operates and some typical vehicle models equipped with our products.
HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle) Batteries
lithium-ion and Nickel-metal hydride battery production is the core of our business.
Since its first debut of Toyota PRIUS in 1997, our batteries have powered over 25 million hybrid vehicles, thanks to the satisfaction and choice of our respectful customers for the quality and performance.
We contribute to the global environment by providing HEV batteries so long as they are closely connected to our living and expand the market boundary.
Testing and Evaluation on Request
We provide testing and evaluation for xEV battery pack system on request as part of our business. Specifically designed facilities and professionals enable to carry out safe and consistent testing.
Working closely with our customers fills the needs of customers in R&D.

Nickel-Metal hydride Batteries
Battery Module NP2
This product is a resin-cased rectangular nickel-metal hydride battery module launched in 2003. It consists of six cells, the smallest unit of a battery, connected in series. These have higher output and are more compact than conventional batteries, and are equipped in many automobiles.
Battery Module NP2.5
This product is a metal-cased rectangular nickel-metal hydride battery module launched in 2005. Based on the technology of the Battery Module NP2, a metal battery case and new power collection structure have been adopted to dramatically improve cooling performance and reduce the size of the battery.
Battery Stack/Battery Pack
Battery modules are ultimately shipped as a battery stack or battery pack. Multiple battery modules are connected to form a stack, and electric components such as an ECU for controlling the batteries and blowers for cooling the batteries, are combined to form a battery pack. Making it into a battery pack protects the batteries from vibration and shock when installed in the vehicle and brings out the best performance.
Lithium-Ion Batteries
Cell 3rd Generation Lithium-ion Battery
This is a lithium-ion battery that first went on sale in 2015 and was upgraded in 2019. It exhibits top-class input/output capabilities and can operate stably in a wide range of regions around the world. It is installed in various models of vehicles, including compact cars.
Cell 4th Generation Lithium-ion Battery
This next-generation lithium-ion battery launched in 2023. Combining all the knowledge we’ve accumulated to date to improve the performance of electrode materials, review and revise component structures, and more, we worked hard to create a battery smaller and more compact than ever before. We expect this battery to become a major product of ours in the future.
Battery Module Assembly/Battery Pack
